Joseph's Birthday Party
Last weekend we celebrated Joseph's 3rd birthday with family and friends, this years theme was "Race Cars". It was cold and we were expecting snow that evening so we didn't get the nice weather we were hoping for but we still managed to have a great day. The crew from Madison came in early and left early since the snow was coming from the West they wanted to get home before the snow started falling.
This was Jonathan and Sigan's first time at our house, it was Amelia's too but she is still having a lot of firsts so it kind of goes without saying that this was her first visit as well.
Uncle Brian gave Joseph a train set for Christmas (which is still in Madison waiting for our basement to be completed), and added to the set with these UPS figures-Joseph opened the package and excitedly yelled "Star wars guys!".
Nana and Papa got a "FP3" player for Joseph for his birthday, he was always taking Eileen's Mp3 player or my iPod so we were sure this would be a great gift for him-boy were we right, he has not stopped listening to it since he got it. (In fact right now Bryan is at Menards with the kids and Joseph is wearing his jPod).
To go with the theme of the party we had a few activities for the kids to do. Olivia and Nana are making their own license plate out of foam shapes and letters.
The kids also decorated their own wooden car.
All of the goodies! We had a race car cake, car and 3 cut-out cookies, cup cakes, brownies, and Irish Car Bomb cupcakes (those were for the adults only). This time I made mini backpacks for the kids treat bags.
Everyone singing Happy Birthday to Joseph, yes he did refuse to take off his headphones (I know my singing is that bad but really the rest of the group is pretty good).
Blowing out his candles

Brenden took the one cupcake with black frosting, he didn't seem to mind but I felt bad.
Joseph was willing to take off his headphones while opening gifts at least. Brenden and Nathan gave him the coolest light saber, it lights up, changes color and makes noise-needless to say he LOVES it (plus he can chase his sisters with it).
Auntie Lori, Joseph's Godmother, got him these really cool giant coloring pages.

Joseph had so much fun and loves all of his new cars and flashlights, thank you everyone for making it such a special and exciting day for him!
